Summer is a time to unwind—not get blindsided by fraud. But scammers know this is when people tend to let their guard down, especially while traveling or shopping online. Whether it’s a fake rental listing or a suspicious text, here are the most common scams to watch for—and how Nymeo can help you stay protected.

Vacation & Travel Scams

Scammers often post fake vacation rentals or offer cheap travel packages that vanish after payment. Victims are left with no reservation—and no way to get their money back.

Nymeo Tip:
If you’re booking a trip, use trusted platforms and verify listings. Never pay with wire transfers or gift cards. Need help budgeting for your vacation? Nymeo offers free online tools and financial counseling to help plan your trip safely and affordably.

Phishing Emails & Text Messages

Fraudsters impersonate financial institutions—including credit unions like ours—to get personal information. You might get a message claiming your card is locked or your account has been compromised.

Stay Alert:
Nymeo will never ask for your full Social Security number, debit card PIN, or online banking credentials via text, email, or unsolicited phone call. If something feels off, contact us directly through our secure channels.

Card Skimming at ATMs & Gas Stations

Skimming devices are used to capture card details at ATMs, gas stations, or payment kiosks. These are often hard to detect—and can compromise your card before you know it.

Nymeo Tip:
All Nymeo debit and credit cards offer contactless tap-to-pay for safer transactions. We also recommend using the Nymeo Mobile App to monitor your transactions in real time and report suspicious activity immediately.

Social Media Scams

Fraudsters create fake accounts or send messages pretending to be companies, influencers, or even friends. They offer “exclusive deals,” “job opportunities,” or prizes that require upfront payment or personal info.

Be Cautious:
Nymeo will never send direct messages asking for account details or payment. If you see a Nymeo promotion on social media and want to verify it, check our official website  or give us a call.
