Holiday Giving That Strengthens Our Community November 25, 2025

As the holiday lights go up and our schedules fill with celebrations, it’s easy to get caught in the swirl of gifts, parties, and travel. But what if this season also became a moment to lean into what really matters—community, connection, and meaningful support? This season, we invite you to pause and consider how you might help others experience the warmth, comfort, and hope the holidays are meant to bring.

Why Giving Matters...Especially Now

  • Many families face unexpected financial pressure this time of year—extra meals, gifts, travel, heating costs. A small act of generosity helps ease real stress.

  • Local nonprofits are working hard to fill the gaps: for food, for essentials, for connection. Your donation—of time, goods, or money—makes that work possible.

  • Giving doesn’t just help others. It uplifts you. It reinforces that we are a community, not just individual accounts and transactions.

How to Give Smart

  • Give what’s needed. Holiday season often brings food drives, warm-coat drives, toy drives—but ask what the specific organization needs. (Spoiler: non-perishables, and cash or gift cards often give the most flexibility.)

  • Time is currency too. Volunteering at a food bank or donation center counts just as much as cash.

  • Support local businesses + nonprofits. When you give locally, the impact lives locally.

  • Make it repeatable. Consider making giving part of your “year-end financial check” routine—budgeting for kindness is as valid as budgeting for travel.

  • Share the story. Encourage coworkers, friends, family to join in. Giving grows when it’s contagious.

Where to Give

There are so many incredible organizations right here in our region doing boots-on-the-ground work to support local families, children, and seniors. Here are some ways to give thoughtfully:

  • Donate to local food banks and pantries – Your non-perishable food items, holiday meal kits, or grocery gift cards go directly toward helping families celebrate with dignity.

  • Volunteer at shelters and service centers – Whether you’re organizing clothing drives or serving meals, your time can provide comfort and relief during a tough season.

  • Support toy and coat drives – Many community groups and nonprofits host seasonal collections to make sure every child stays warm and feels included when it comes to holiday gifts.

  • Give to neighborhood charities, faith-based groups, or mutual aid circles – These groups often work directly with families facing hardship and can distribute support quickly to where it’s needed most.

Make the Holidays Unforgettable

As a community credit union, our mission is simple: support our members and uplift our community. Let’s make this holiday season unforgettable in all the right ways. Let’s give giving a comeback. Let’s choose connection over consumption and kindness over clutter. After all, financial health includes the health of the community around us. And every act of generosity — no matter how small — adds up!
